Canalside Longshed

Savarino Companies served as General Contractor for the new construction of an interpretive structure along the Erie Canal’s historic Commercial Slip at Canalside. The Longshed is a 2-story, 5,000 sq. ft. heavy timber structure with vertical and horizontal wood siding designed to provide homage to the former canal loading and unloading buildings that historically lined the Erie Canal in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Maritime Center is the first occupant of the Longshed and will build a replica canal packet boat. After that, the building will serve a variety of public uses year-round.
