McDermott Lofts is the historic adaptive reuse of the former St. Clare Roman Catholic School in Buffalo’s “Valley” neighborhood. Built in 1896, the school building was part of the historic former St. Stephen’s Church complex. The building is a rare example of a neo-gothic church school built before 1900. The four-story mixed-use facility includes 11 market-rate apartments and a commercial office space on the first floor.
